IIM Annual Ball 2006
Your Institute made history on November 4,
2006, with tons of great news and lots of breakthroughs that we
are so eager to share with those of you who missed that grand
monumental occasion.
Our
Hon. President, Dr. Dominic Wong (yes, he's Doctor now), was
conferred the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Humanities (Honoris
Causa) that evening, witnessed by Dr. York Chow, Secretary for
Health, Welfare and Food, and his wife, Shelley, both Guests of
Honour of our Ball event.

As
a continuation of the Institute's great tradition, our Guest of
Honour, Dr. York Chow, was admitted Hon. Fellow of the
Institute.

A
breakthrough this year was that the IIM Annual Ball was
conducted in tandem with the Commencement Exercise of the
Bulacan State University, Republic of the Philippines.
Among the VIP's presiding at this degree conferment
ceremony were the Hon. Carlito Puno, Chairman, Commission on
Higher Education of the Republic of the Philippines, and Dr.
Rosario Pimentel, University President.
Fifteen
members of IIM having burnt their midnight oil for months on top
of their already heavy daily work engagements earned their
honors. They were
conferred Doctor of Business Administration degrees at this
Commencement Exercise.

Another
breakthrough: this was the first time the IIM Ball was held in
the Convention Hall of HKCEC (Hong Kong Convention &
Exhibition Centre). Function
rooms previously used are simply not big enough to accommodate
the biggest ever crowd; close to 500 attended.
There were altogether forty tables!

Administration! Congratulations
to our Deputy Chairman, Felix Chan, for being awarded the Medal
of Honour, in recognition of his public services and
contribution. You
all well deserve the honour.

Last
but not least, thanks go to Joe Chau, Ball Chairman, and all the
front-stage and other 'silent' helpers, for their great
contribution in making this event so successful, breaking all
previous years' records. Thanks to friends of IIM who have so generously donated table
prizes, lucky draw prizes, and..yes, even cash prizes.
Thank You, all participants, particularly those who have
been always supporting our Ball function over the years!
